This application was planned under the supervision of the Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden for the purpose of exploring the botanical garden from the perspective of Dr. Tomitaro Makino, on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of Dr. Tomitaros birth. Dr. Tomitaro Makino is a world-famous botanist who lived in the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa eras and is known as the father of Japanese botany.During his lifetime, he gave scientific names to more than 1,500 types of plants, collected 400,000 plant specimens for research, and left behind a large number of detailed botanical drawings called the "Makino style." The 1940 publication of Makinos Japanese Botanical Encyclopedia (published by Hokuryukan in 1940) can be said to be the culmination of the research activities of these doctors.In this app, we have selected 100 species of plants related to Dr. Makino based on the illustrated book. mainly, 1.
